I’m an audio producer and artist working on Gadigal Land (Sydney.) I’ve created work for ABC Radio National, Impact Studios, Scitech, Transom, SmallAudioArt_ and elsewhere.
I started out as a teenage community radio volunteer at FBi Radio. Over the years, I had a variety of roles including – working on the breakfast program, a morning news segment and long-form interview program, amongst other projects. Before eventually landing a staff position as Production Manager of FBi’s national storytelling show, All The Best. As Production Manager, I co-ran the program overseeing the unique curation of documentary, personal essay and sound art featured on the show.
In 2023 I was an artist in residence at UnionDocs Centre for Documentary Art in New York. Where I participated in workshops from some of the best producers around and worked on a collaborative live-storytelling project. Also in 2023, my work ‘But I’m A Virgo’ was featured by US-based radio showcase, Transom. ‘But I’m A Virgo’ is a memoir piece that combines memories, phone calls and archival VHS tape.
I worked as a Series Producer on the Impact Studio’s podcast, ‘Care To Share.’ The series creates space for carers to have conversations about their experience of looking after loved ones. This episode featuring Peter and Keith is my favourite I produced, the kindness and wisdom they brought to the conversation has stayed with me <3
I’m passionate about supporting emerging audio-makers and am a mentor in the CMTO’s Audio Ability Program which aims to increase opportunities for young people with disabilities in community radio.
As well as practicing as an audio producer, I’m also interested in the theory of audio storytelling and work as a casual academic at the University of Sydney, where I teach Podcasting and Advanced Audio Project.
Currently I’m teaching at University of Sydney and working on an independent audio art project about disability and dating.
I view audio documentary as an art form and am committed to honing my craft by always experimenting, learning and listening closely. I’m interested in approaches to audio storytelling that don’t view ‘content’ purely as a commodity. But rather, rooting my work in community and creativity. If this resonates with you and you’d like to work together or discuss a project please reach out. I’m open to contract and part-time work.
